MetaTrader 4 Position Size Calculator

MetaTrader 4 Position Size Calculator

Comprehensive risk management, lot size, and trade projection tool for traders

How this Calculator Works

This calculator helps you determine the optimal lot size for each trade using your entered account balance, risk percentage, and stop-loss. It supports calculation for popular Forex pairs and precious metals (gold & silver), using accurate pip value formulas for each pair.

  • Enter your account settings, select the trading pair, and define your risk and stop-loss/take-profit settings.
  • You can set stop-loss and take-profit in absolute price or in points (pips or fraction of pip for metals).
  • On calculation, the tool provides: how many lots to trade, projected profit/loss, pip value, and risk-reward ratio—all optimized for single-page PDF export.

Please note: All calculations assume standard contract sizes (100,000 for Forex, 100 for XAUUSD, 5,000 for XAGUSD). For different contract sizes or exotic pairs, adjust values accordingly.

  • Always use this calculator before placing trades to ensure proper risk management
  • Start with a conservative risk percentage (1-2%) until you’re comfortable with your strategy
  • Verify the stop loss distance is appropriate for the volatility of the chosen pair
  • Consider the risk-to-reward ratio – aim for at least 1:2 (risking 1 to potentially gain 2)
  • Remember that proper position sizing is one of the most critical aspects of successful trading
